With a strong lineup of all-rounders, bowlers, and batters, the team has already bagged 2 victories this season. By defeating UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants with their amazing performance on the ground, the RCB women's squad is at the top of the points table with a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.665.

RCB women's team performance in 2023

The first season of WPL started with a bang in 2023, held from 4th March to 26th March. The tournament featured 5 teams competing in a total of 22 matches to win the trophy, where in the finals, Mumbai Indians Delhi Capitals became the champion of WPL's first edition.

Unfortunately, the RCB women's team squad did not have a great run in WPL 2023. The team started the tournament with 5 consecutive defeats and managed to bag only 2 victories against UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants. The team ended the tournament in the 4th position in the points table with a negative Net Run Rate (NRR) of -1.137 and was eliminated as a result.

WPL 2024

The WPL tournament hosts 5 teams that compete against each other in a double round-robin format to win the trophy. Under this format, the top three teams with the most points on the table enter the playoffs in the competition.

As per the tournament format, the top team, according to the points table, gets a direct entry into the finals. Meanwhile, their opponent is decided through the eliminator match between the second and the third team in the points table.

Before the ongoing edition of the WPL, BCCI had released the WPL 2024 players list in October. Herein, a total of 60 players, with 21 international players, were retained across five teams, and 29 players, who may no longer align with the teams' strategies, were released from the teams. The five teams competing in the WPL are- Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals, and Gujarat Giants.

Unlike IPL, WPL features a short playoff structure, with only 22 league matches between the 5 teams and only 1 eliminator in the playoffs to get the top two teams for the championship final. The eliminator is scheduled for 15th March 2024, which will give us the two teams competing in the final match on 17th March 2024 in Delhi.

The RCB women's team had a strong start in the WPL 2024, with their superior skills and top-notch player lineup. It will be interesting to see how their journey continues in the second season of this T20 tournament.
