Under Coach Charlotte Edwards's guidance and Harmanpreet Kaur’s strong leadership, the Mumbai Indians have landed on the cricket pitch ready to rumble. If you’re yet to hear the news, these defending champions are already smashing wickets this year.

They currently have a net run rate of 0.488 and share the top spot with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

With such a strong line-up and start to the league, their competitors are sure to bring nothing but their A-game to the pitch, giving viewers and cricket fans across the globe a WPL to remember.

Mumbai Indians Women’s Team’s Performance in 2023

The WPL MI squad had a great run during last year’s inaugural season, having won the trophy in an exciting match against the impressive Delhi Capitals. And this WPL edition, they’ve strutted onto the pitch with every intention of winning the trophy for the second time in a row.

Mumbai Indians have already played two matches this season. Further, they have won them by a significant margin, leaving their fans in no doubt that this year, too, the women’s league will get everyone’s blood pumping.

With the finals scheduled to be held on 17 March in Delhi, it is time to start gearing up for some gripping and sensational matches.

Prospects of the WPL Mumbai Indians Team in 2024

The WPL 2024 has five teams eyeing the trophy. These include the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, UP Warriorz, and, of course, 2023 winners Mumbai Indians. This year, the WPL witnessed 164 players registering themselves for the league, with 104 belonging to India and 61 from overseas, 15 of whom are from associate nations.

The 2024 WPL was kicked off at Bangalore on February 23rd, with reigning champions Mumbai Indians back on the turf facing off Delhi Capitals. The former won the match by four wickets.

And their winning streak went on as they emerged winners against Gujarat Giants on 25th Feb, where they won by five wickets. This WPL MI squad is off to a striking start and, no doubt, has become a formidable foe to the other four teams.

As we witness the battle for the 2024 trophy, we’re sure to enjoy some stellar cricket that will no doubt tempt us to buy tickets to see the match live. All so we can see our favorite cricketers break a sweat and lift that beautiful trophy yet again.

But as is the case with all cricket leagues, only time will tell whether the Mumbai Indians women’s team will once again wear the winning crown or whether 2024 will bring us a new team to root for next year. Keep an eye on the WPL schedule to ensure you witness every electrifying moment of women’s cricket.
