Apple iPhone X Vs iPhone XR

Apple iPhone X Vs iPhone XR

Apple has given the smartphone industry some of the best phones ever designed. The company’s products are known to deliver superior performance with elegant and stylish designs. iPhone has created a league of its own; with each year, the latest models launch sets a special kind of frenzy among loyalists in motion.

Two models that entered the market in 2017 and 2018 are the iPhone X and the iPhone XR. So which is the best smartphone out of the two?

Specifications and Design

iPhone X – Screen: 5.8” | OS: iOS 11.1.1 | Processor: Apply A11 Bionic | RAM: 3 GB | Camera: 12 MP (Rear); 7 MP (Front) | Battery: 2,716 mAh (Quick Charging)

iPhone XR – Screen: 6.1” | OS: iOS 12 | Processor: Apple A12 Bionic | RAM: 3 GB | Camera: 12 MP (Rear); 7 MP (Front) | Battery: 2,942 mAh (Fast Charging)

Both top phones feature gorgeous designs with a premium appeal. However, the iPhone X has an edge over XR due to its OLED display, while the latter has a more economical LCD. The X has a front and back body made of glass with a stainless steel frame and a high-gloss finish, while the XR carries an aluminium frame. The X is also more compact when it comes to holding grip. Having said that, both the phones retain their edgy exterior and look.

Software and Performance

Performance and speed seem similar under normal usage. Apple moved to the hexacore processor with an Apple-designed chipset in iPhone X, delivering enhanced performance (almost 25% greater than A10) and battery efficiency.

The XR carries the new A12 Bionic processor, with a similar hexacore CPU, which can feel smoother and faster at times. Lab tests also show it to be 15% faster and 40% more power-efficient compared to the older Apple flagships.

Battery Life and Camera

Both the phones highlight superior AR technology to deliver better image capturing, noise reduction, focus, etc. However, in terms of hardware, the iPhone X has an edge with a wide-angle lens as well as a telephoto lens, while the XR doesn’t feature a telephoto lens. Overall, the image quality for both devices is high.

In terms of battery performance, the X lags behind its newer sibling, XR. Given its new A12 chip and low-resolution display, its battery endurance is higher, and it also charges faster. The X not only has a smaller battery capacity but also charges slower.

Shared features include the speakers, the Face ID system, the Dual-SIM function, and wireless charging. The added advantage with the XR is that you get to choose from their six colour variants. Our overall mobile review for both the devices is that both phones are performers in their price categories, with the unbeatable brand name of Apple.

A smartphone tip here would be to check phone reviews for the specification differences and pick the phone that is your perfect match!
