All you need to know about Apple’s WWDC 2020

Apple’s WWDC or Worldwide Developers Conference, was, for the first time, not an on-ground event this year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Apple WWDC 2020 was streamed live for us to watch and enjoy.

You can find a full video and analysis of the event on many online sources. However, if you’re not into the details and just wanted a brief overview of what happened, here it is.

Apple iOS 14: the next big thing

Apple offered a peek into the latest Apple iOS 14, which will run in iPhones soon. There are a lot of noteworthy updates like widgets can now feature on your home screen. This changes how your iPhone screen looks in a big way, with more data-rich icons.

Another update is the App Library, which will automatically organize apps as per their categories. And yes, there is picture-in-picture too. When you swipe a video screen away, it will float on the screen, and you can even move and resize it. You can also minimize it into a button.

There is a big update for Apple Maps, with a cycling-special navigation feature. This, however, will first be unveiled in a few international cities, and later on in others. The new feature will alert riders about elevations and stairs as well.

Yet another gap that Apple filled and announced in the Apple WWDC 2020 is App Clips. This is  basically Apple’s version of Instant Apps. Here, you don’t have to download an entire app to have access to its services. It will save a lot of effort and de-clutter your home screen.

Want to buy a new iPhone and be ready for Apple iOS 14 in advance? You can do so easily and immediately with options like mobile on EMI, which offers a 0% EMI with convenient processing.

iPadOS 14

Apple is going all out with its widgets. They’re soon coming to your iPad screen as well. There is also a new sidebar in the offing, which will make navigation of apps easier. This just makes it all the more easier to use your iPad like a replacement for a laptop. Plus, the search feature on an iPad now looks just like Spotlight of a Mac. You can use it to search, find contacts, and launch an app.

Another big news is Scribble, which enables users to write with your Apple Pencil anywhere, and it will automatically be converted into text. It is multilingual and can detect the information context and direct to the relevant app with a tap.

AirPods

The Apple WWDC 2020 would surely have been incomplete without some news for AirPods users. The software functioning with AirPods will now be automatically connected to any paired device which plays audio. The accelerometer of your AirPods will soon enable them to give spatial audio, by tracking your head’s location. This would mean better, immersive sound.

Excited to buy your new AirPods already but worried about the price? Thank the Consumer Durable Loan from Tata Capital for making it easy as pie with its 0% EMI facility and quick processing!

Apple Watch OS7

It will finally be easier to get that watchface you liked but weren’t sure how to access. With Face Swapping, you can simply find a watchface on a developer website or social media and add it to your watch. There is also a new workout app which will use a bunch of apps together to track dance moves, something no other brand has done yet. There’s also a sleep tracker and a – wait for it – handwashing tracker in the new update.

Apple TV OS14

Apple TV is now ready to support XBox Elite 2 controllers and Adaptive controllers. You can also enjoy picture-in-picture. You can also create multiple gamer profiles for Apple Arcade so that you don’t lose your progress when someone else is playing.

Conclusion

Apart from all of this, Apple also announced a big software update called MacOS Big Sur. It features a major design update which will bring it up to the levels of iOS and iPadOS. Stay tuned for more about Apple’s latest devices and updates.
