Which Countries Are Open for Tourism in 2023?

Which countries are open for tourism? The question that must be echoing in the minds of wanderers who plan on travelling in 2023. While the mere idea of travelling amid a global pandemic may seem scary to some, countries across the world are lifting border restrictions gradually.

So, put on that backpack, stuff your suitcases and grab cash for a luxurious holiday!

Here’s a concise list of countries open for tourism 2023:

Iceland

Iceland’s breathtaking fjords are now within your reach. All travellers – regardless of home country – are allowed to visit Iceland provided they show either a certificate of full COVID-19 vaccination or a statement of previous COVID infection.

Moreover, as per the guidelines issued, from July 27, 2021, you need to carry a negative test (RTPCR or rapid antigen) report before flying to Iceland, issued within 72 hours of departure. If you are vaccinated against or recovered from COVID1-9, you need not quarantine either.

Seychelles

Keen on reviving its tourism sector, this breathtakingly beautiful archipelago off the coast of Africa has begun welcoming visitors from every corner of the globe, as long as you have had a negative PCR test report issued within 72 hours of departure. You don’t need to undergo quarantine upon arrival. However, you must obtain a Health Travel authorisation and have travel insurance that covers treatment related to COVID-19.

Most beaches, cultural attractions, nature trails, and other places of tourist interest, such as the Mission Lodge, Botanical Gardens, and Victoria Market, are all accessible to tourists, although with new protocols and timings. To avoid any regrets, it is recommended that you get in touch with these establishments before paying a visit.

Mauritius

Blessed with idyllic beaches and exceptional landscapes, Mauritius is one of the top countries open for international tourism, especially for a summer getaway. The island nation opened its borders for the first time in 16 months, providing beach lovers with long-overdue reassurance.

If you’re fully vaccinated, you can stay in any of the 14 ‘resort bubbles,’ where you’ll be allowed to indulge in all the offered facilities, including the pool. You can book a hotel by referring to the list of hotels posted on the Mauritius Tourism website

Egypt

The great land of monuments, Pharaohs, pyramids, and mummies, Egypt is a treasure trove for casual tourists and adventure junkies alike. Currently, travellers from all countries are welcomed in Egypt, making it one of the best places open for tourism in 2023.

However, you do need to fulfil some formalities. Firstly, you need to fill and submit a health declaration form for Egypt. If you’re unvaccinated, carrying a negative RT-PCR test report (issued within 72 hours before the flight departure) is a must. Fully vaccinated travellers are exempt from quarantine and testing requirements.

Maldives

Known for its idyllic, laid-back, luxury vacations, Maldives – a famous archipelago in the Indian Ocean – has ambitious plans of vaccinating travellers once its resident population is fully immunised. As of now, the island nation is receiving travellers without any quarantine requirements (provided they are visiting an island where 60% of people are fully vaccinated).

A negative PCR report issued no more than 96 hours before departure is still mandatory for all unvaccinated visitors. Moreover, you must complete a “Traveller Health Declaration” 24 hours before you depart.
