3. Fresh faces of this season

Several IPL debutants have the chance to shine as fans get ready for the 16th season of the lucrative league. Many fans' eyes will be glued to these cricketers who have repeatedly demonstrated their strength on the cricket field during the upcoming T20 extravaganza season. Here are the fresh faces you should keep your eyes out for:

  • Mukesh Kumar, a proven performer who owned the Ranji Trophy Season 2020-2021, was picked up by Delhi Capitals, eager to make a mark.
  • Joshua Little's performance at the T20 World Cup 2022 earned him a contract with Gujarat Titans.
  • Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza was in the form of his life at the T20 World Cup 2022, and Punjab Kings signed him for IPL 2023.
  • Harry Brook adds power to any batting line up thanks to his excellent international batting form, so Sunrisers Hyderabad went out of their way to acquire him for their team.
  • Finally, Cameron Green's all-rounder calibre is an asset to any team, so the Mumbai Indians broke the bank to sign the top all-rounder at the 2023 player auction.

4. Stars not chosen this season

Despite having impressive records and skills, batsmen like Rassie Van Der Dussen and Dawid Malan went unpicked in the auction.

Similarly, despite being in excellent form, Daryl Mitchell and Dasun Shanaka failed to attract bids. Other players like Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das, Kusal Mendis, Tom Banton, Chris Jordan, and Adam Milne had high base prices ranging from Rs. Fifty lakhs to Rs. 2 crores, but were not selected by any of the ten franchises.

It was surprising to see these players go unpicked, as they have performed well in international and domestic cricket. But if you are a fan, don't be disappointed. They may get another chance in the next auction or as replacements during the tournament. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Tournament details

The tournament is scheduled to begin on 31st March 2023. This edition will have ten teams in IPL 2023, as the BCCI added two nebw teams after IPL 2022. The teams will play 70 league games over 52 days at 12 venues.

The defending champions, Gujrat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will play the first match in Ahmedabad.

In conclusion

The Tata IPL 2023 auction was a success, with franchises and players making the most of the opportunity to build a strong team for the upcoming season. There was an overall sum of Rs. 167 crores spent on 80 players between 10 franchises as a whole.
