Management Trainee Program

The Management Trainee Programme (MT Programme) is Tata Capital's flagship entry level talent acquisition programme for management trainees. It is a structured twelve-month induction and developmental programme consisting of four modules of three months each. Each module will take you through different parts of our businesses, and across various cities where we are present.

This structured induction programme provides an immersive understanding of our business operations and culture to prepare you for future leadership roles. You could find yourself masterminding a strategy to launch a new product or increasing sales in untapped market segments or even negotiating with auto dealers across several states. The MT Programme will help you develop all the skills required to be an efficient manager through hands-on learning and live projects.

With a strong emphasis on professional development through formal training and individual checkpoints with HR, the program provides you with unique opportunities to gain exposure and hone your skills.

Starting with a one-week corporate orientation, the programme puts you to test through direct assignments in Field Sales, Operations, Credit, Finance and Marketing Services. Though you will largely receive on-the-job training, your transition from theory to practical is supported with planned formal courses/initiatives.

During your traineeship, you will also get a great opportunity to be mentored by members of our senior leadership team through a well-structured Mentorship Programme, thereby giving you great practical insight into corporate strategy as well as high visibility within the organization.

At the conclusion of the program, you will be placed in field sales or credit positions. Positions for functional specialists (Marketing/Finance/Human Resources, etc.) may also be allotted. Within 5 to 7 years, post the successful completion of the program and based on both individual and company performance, you can expect to be in a challenging mid-management role, leading a team. Till date, our Management Trainee Programme has inducted more than a hundred management graduates from the country¿s top MBA colleges, as a part of our talent and leadership pipeline.

Graduate Trainee Program

The Graduate Trainee Programme (GT Programme) is Tata Capital's flagship entry-level talent acquisition programme, conceptualized and designed for a fresh graduate.
It offers an intensive 35 days online training and 10 days experiential learning that provides an overview of Financial Services and Management with modules including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Sales and Distribution Management and Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Macro Economics
  • Retail Finance
  • Corporate Finance
  • Rural Finance
  • Regulations impacting Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs)
  • Appraisal & Management of Credit
  • Wealth Management
  • Distribution and Broking
The extensive sessions conducted by experienced faculty and senior executives from the organization will ensure you get a thorough insight into the company and its various lines of business. The programme will also introduce you to our culture, values and philosophy that are the bedrock for the conception of all products and services offered by Tata Capital. The program also introduces you to our corporate sustainability initiative which is an important part of our culture. Through structured modules and planned learning interventions, the program will equip you with real-world knowledge.
Post successful completion of the program, you will get the opportunity to be placed in challenging roles across business units, pan-India.

Summer Trainee Program

SPARK - Summer Programme to Acquire and Redefine Knowledge is Tata Capital's flagship campus cadre programme for summer interns. SPARK is a structured 8-week programme to give MBA students a hands-on experience through live projects with seasoned executives in the Company.

This internship goes beyond the project brief and gives you a closer peek inside the company. A few important features of the internship are as follows:

  • Projects are directly outlined by the Business/Functional Heads and are crucial to the achievement of business goals. This ensures the work is real-time and the success of the deliverables is important to all stakeholders.
  • Project guides are personally involved and will give generously of their time, knowledge and patience to the intern over the short eight-week period.
  • Senior Leadership involvement in the program helps the interns to shape their career and learn the right values at the very early stage.

Beyond the internship, Tata Capital has introduced an informal but enlightening platform "Lunch and Learn" for the summer interns to connect, share and question the senior leaders within the company. The HR team connects the entire summer intern's batch with one speaker every alternate Friday through "Lunch and Learn" platform. These direct interactions with the Senior Management team offer more than what the students can find online or through company literature, understand leadership qualities, get business lessons from the horse's mouth, learn professional attitude and know our company better.

Post one-day corporate orientation, the interns are allotted business projects in Field Sales, Operations, Credit, Finance and Marketing Services. During these 8 weeks, the interns get a regular and ongoing feedback from the guide and the reviewer, which is essential for their learnings. At the conclusion of the program, post the set of evaluations, the most deserving summer trainees are offered pre-placement offer for Management Trainee role at Tata Capital.

The percentages of conversion from Summer Trainee to Management Trainee through pre-placement offers has increased tremendously over the past years with huge emphasis on recruiting the best and brightest interns from MBA programs and cultivating these high potential new hires as a deep bench of talent for future management roles.

Emerging Leaders Program (ELP)

Every organization on its journey towards achieving objectives aims at continuous growth and development. One of the core pillars that is instrumental in an organization's growth and development is its human capital. Tata Capital acknowledges and recognizes its human capital and aims to identify and nurture its talent, so as to build organizational capability for the future.

It is with this objective that the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) was introduced in the organization. ELP is the flagship talent program for the Junior Management category. The ELP Managers are selected with the objective to groom them to take up higher responsibility in the organization. The program is designed to give the ELP managers exposure across Business Units and Functions. It is backed by learning and development interventions to strengthen their candidature for taking up senior positions in the future.

Tata Administrative Services (TAS)

Eligibility criteria as per the current guidelines for Tata Administrative Services 2018  -

Nature of Employment: TAS In-house is open only to employees on permanent rolls of Tata Group companies and Tata Joint Venture companies (excluding employees on JV partner rolls).

Minimum Educational Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline is mandatory.

Minimum Service within the Group: As on 1st April 2018, applicants should have minimum 2 years of current continuous service in the Group. As an exception, all Management Trainees / Graduate Engineer Trainees/employees of other structured group programmes who have joined the group on or before 15th September 2016, will be eligible for TAS In-house 2018.

Maximum Work Experience: As on 1st April 2018, applicants to have total professional work experience post the Bachelor’s degree, of not more than 6 years, of which at least 2 years should be continuous service in the Tata Group on permanent rolls, as stated in the first and third point above. 

For the computation of the balance work experience, if any, Full-time, Permanent, Part-time, Temporary, Consultant, Retainership assignments/employment will be considered. Short term project internships will not be considered as work experience.

Performance Management Cycle: Employees should have undergone minimum 2 continuous appraisal cycles within the Group as on 1st April 2018, with the exception as mentioned in the third point above.

Registration: Interested applicants to register on the TAS website, www.tas-tata.com/tas-inhouse-program.aspx. An applicant can register only once. Applicants with multiple registrations/entries via varying name and GMAT score combinations will be disqualified for the TAS In-house process.

GMAT: A valid score, for a GMAT test taken after June 2013 is necessary (as a reference point, last year’s GMAT score cut-off was 650). GRE score is not valid for TAS. Applicants should register on the website only once a valid and final GMAT score is secured.

Sabbatical / Long Leave: Applicants currently on sabbatical, study leave, medical leave and leave without pay are eligible to apply for TAS In-house subject to approval from the respective company HR department and provided they are on the rolls of the company and viewed as continuous service. If selected, the applicant will have to join the program on the declared date of commencement.

TBLA Winners: All TBLA (Tata Business Leadership Awards) Finals In-house Winners will get a direct shortlist to the TAS Final Interview round and the 1st & 2nd Runner Ups will get a direct shortlist to the TAS Presentation round, subject to meeting all the TAS In-house 2018 eligibility criteria stated in the points above.
