Among the promising options in the gearless/automatic category is the Maruti Alto K10 AMT, while others include Maruti Wagon R that has as many as five variants. The new entrant Maruti S-Presso has three automatic gear variants to choose from. Other models with gearless trims include Maruti Swift, Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti Ignis, Maruti Ciaz, Maruti S-Cross, etc.

Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL)

The South Korean car brand is the second leading passenger carmaker in India. It was one of the few brands that introduced the automatic (AT) feature in a budget car (i10) a decade ago. Hyundai cars with automatic gearbox deliver excellent drivability while driving through city traffic. Usually, a car with an automatic function suffers from low fuel economy syndrome. However, Hyundai, with its technology, assures its cars don’t lack in terms of mileage as well as on-road performance. The Hyundai cars that offer the gearless feature include Hyundai Santro, Hyundai Grand i10, Hyundai i20 Elite, Hyundai Verna, Hyundai Creta and others.

Honda Motor Company

Think refinement, and what comes to the mind is Honda. The Japan-based car manufacturer is among the most respected carmakers in India. The premium car brand provides its consumers with highly dependable and sophisticated products at affordable prices.

Since its debut in India, it has been producing some of the most refined engines and gearboxes. And the same integrity is applied to its automatic/gearless range of cars as well. Its automatic function equipped cars include Honda Brio, Honda Amaze, Honda City, Honda Jazz, Honda B-RV, etc. Among all, the automatic transmission of the City is considered as a benchmark in its segment for its smoothness and practicality.

Tata Motors

The home-grown automaker Tata Motors also offers cars with gearless/automatic gear function. The leading passenger carmaker even introduced an automatic version of the tiny city car – Tata Nano. It did woo the urban youngsters, after which other more premium products were added to the gearless list like Tata Bolt, Tata Zest, Tata Tiago, Tata Tigor, Tata Nexon, etc.

Listed above are the top car brands with their best formulation of gearless/automatic transmissions that you can choose from. If you have already chosen your preferred brand from the list, you can buy a car with the help of a used car loan or second hand car loan from Tata Capital.
