Ola s1 vs Ola s1 air vs Ola s1 Pro Comparison

Ola has been on a launch spree when it comes to its S1 range of electric scooters in India. Recently, it unveiled the latest and the most affordable Ola S1 Air, priced at INR 84,999, ex-showroom in the country.

Currently, Ola has three variants in its electric vehicles S1 lineup - the S1 Pro, S1, and the newest S1 Air.  So, how does the S1 Air stack up against its elder siblings - the Original S1 and the S1 Pro? Does it have enough for buyers to opt for it in its segment? Let us find out!

This article compares Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Air vs Ola S1 Pro in a specification-based comparison to help a potential buyer make a more informed choice.

Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Air vs Ola S1 Pro - An Overview

The Ola S1 Air rings many bells for an average user looking to buy an e-scooter for their daily commute needs. It is lightweight and sturdy, packs in a powerful-enough motor for most uses, and comes in five vibrant shades. But with the regular S1 costing a few thousand more, does it have enough to woo people? Here is an Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Air vs Ola S1 Pro comparison to help clear the air.

Design

While a lot of S1 Air looks similar to its more expensive siblings - the S1 and S1 Pro, it is the finer details where there are differences to spot. Similar to the other variants, it packs a 7-inch digital touchscreen display with a plethora of connectivity and usage functionalities, such as GPS, Bluetooth, navigation, and more.

Like the S1, the S1 Air is also available in five attractive colours. The S1 Pro, on the other hand, is available in 11 unique shades. Also, Ola Electric has opted for black-toned panels for the newer S1 Air. In comparison, the S1 and S1 Pro had colour-matched panels. Also, the grab rail on the Air is metal, whereas its elder siblings come with a cast aluminium one.

The twin rear shock on the Air is also cheaper than its more expensive siblings. In addition, it comes with pressed steel wheels and drums brakes on both ends to keep the costs down. It also results in the Air variant being significantly lighter than its S1 counterparts, by 22kg and 26kg from the vanilla S1 and S1 Pro, respectively.

Performance

The Ola S1 Air comes equipped with a relatively less powerful 4.5kW motor which allows it to attain a top speed of 85kmph. The e-scooter can go from 0 to 40kmph in 4.3 seconds.

In comparison, the S1 and S1 Pro have an 8.5kW motor that allows them to draw much more power efficiently. Not to say, the S1 and the S1 Pro have a maximum speed of 95kmph and 116kmph, respectively. Furthermore, the S1 Pro even packs in a Hyper mode, a rarity in its price range, which further enables it to draw maximum power from its motor.

Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Air vs Ola S1 Pro Price Comparison

The Ola S1 Air is similar to the vanilla S1 but undercuts its pricing by opting for subtle differences. The Bengaluru-based startup, Ola Electric, has announced an ex-showroom price tag of INR 84,999 for the S1 Air.

The more powerful S1 e-scooter can be bought at home for INR 99,999 (ex-showroom). However, if a buyer is looking for more power, the S1 Pro can be purchased by paying slightly more as it starts at INR 1,39,999 (ex-showroom).

The brand offers a standard warranty of 3 years/ 40,000km (whichever is earlier) for all its S1 variants. In addition, buyers can also benefit from a three-year battery warranty. If a buyer wants an extended warranty, they can avail of an additional two years/ 20,000km coverage at an additional cost.

Range comparison

When we delve into the range and battery capacity, the Ola S1 vs Ola S1 Air vs Ola S1 Pro differences are clearly to be seen. The entry-level S1 Air packs in a 2.5kWh cell, the smallest battery pack.

Because of its size, it also takes the least time to charge. The S1 Air takes around 4.5 hours to go from 0% to 100%. Unsurprisingly, it also gets the lowest ARAI-certified claimed range of 101km and a real-world range of 76km on a single charge.

In comparison, the Ola S1 packs in a 3kWh cell, which takes around 5 hours to replenish itself fully. It has a touted claimed range of 141km and a real-world range of 128km on a single charge, which is significantly better than the Air variant.

The S1 Pro further ups the game by packing in a massive 4kWh cell that requires six and a half hours to charge completely. But once charged and running, it has a claimed range of 181km and an actual range of 170km, which comes in handy in several situations.
