List of Cars with Pre-Installed CNG Kits

List of Cars with Pre-Installed CNG Kits

When thinking of buying a new car with CNG as a fuel option, you must answer the question whether you want a car with a factory-fitted CNG kit (already fitted in the car by the manufacturer) or a car with a retro-fitted CNG kit (fit into a second-hand car or used car). Many benefits come with a car with a pre-installed CNG kit:

  • The manufacturer warranty stays active, unlike in the case of a retrofitted car where the warranty becomes void
  • Superior performance as the calibration of various systems in the car are done keeping in mind the CNG kit
  • CNG kits are believed to reduce the durability of the car, however, the degree of the same is lesser in pre-installed cars
  • Fitting of the kit is done with precision and dexterity
  • Car financed with from a financial institution would also include CNG kit price, unlike used car finance which would exclude CNG kit price which is installed later

Let us explore some of the cars which come with a pre-installed CNG kit in the price range of Rs. 3 lakhs and 10 lakhs:

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 CNG

The 5-seater Alto 800 CNG is available in two variants – LXI and LXI Opt. They come with a manual transmission and a 796cc engine and claim to give a mileage of 33 km/kg.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco

The Maruti Suzuki Eeco comes in almost 5 variants from Standard, to Cargo, to CNG and CNG AC being the common ones. With a 1196cc engine, manual transmission and a mileage of 22 km/kg, the car also hosts a variety of safety features – side impact bars, crumple zones, high seating, and energy-absorbing materials.

Maruti Suzuki Alto K10

This 998cc engine car with a mileage of 32 km/kg comes with a dual transmission option and a host of variants; the CNG variant is named LXI CNG. It is superior design and built compared to the old Alto, with greater safety and size offerings.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR

The WagonR CNG comes in two Variants – LXI and LXI Opt. A 1197cc engine with a manual transmission and a mileage of 33 km/kg, this is one of the most popular pre-fixed CNG cars in the market.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio Green

This car is available in two variants – VXI and VXI Opt and comes with an advanced intelligent gas port injection technology which allows uniform air-fuel mixture. It comes with a 998cc engine offering a mileage of 31 km/kg.

Hyundai Santro

The Hyundai Santro offers CNG option in two of its variants- Magna and Sportz. Its 1086cc manual transmission engine gives a modest 30 km/kg mileage. This car is another one of the most famous CNG cars in India.

Maruti Suzuki Ertigo

This Maruti Suzuki car comes with a comparatively more powerful engine with one CNG variant – VXI with a manual transmission. Its 1462cc engine gives a lower mileage of 26 km/kg. It has competitive safety features in the car which are worth noting.

Ford Aspire

The Ford Aspire comes in two CNG variants – Ambiente and Trend Plus. Its 1194cc engine gives a lower mileage of 20 km/kg

Buying used cars and getting CNG kits fixed has been a normal norm in the CNG car market. Buying second-hand cars and getting CNG kits installed like this, however, misses out on the numerous benefits of a pre-installed CNG kit. Other missed benefits include exclusion of kit price from the loan amount, optimal performance and manufacturer warranty of the vehicle.  Looking for a quick and easy used car loan?
