As the Women’s IPL 2023 is just around the corner, excitement is abuzz across the cricket world.
Being the first-ever Women’s IPL, this year is setting history as the tournament gears up to start. But, that’s not the only exciting news this year. The sponsors for the Women’s IPL rights for five years are awarded to the TATA group.
Already a familiar name in Cricket, TATA will bring its galore to WPL 2023 as well. Let us see the details of the sponsor now.

Tata WPL Title Sponsor details

When the BCCI announced the invitation of title bids on February 9 this year, it only took about two weeks to finalize the Title sponsors for the Women’s IPL rights. This comes as a defining moment in women’s cricket as the TATA name contributes to the growing reputation of Women’s cricket in India. With the support of the TATA group, women’s cricket is only yet to grow further as they form a close association with the BCCI for the foreseeable future.
As Tata Sons holds the rights for five years, the products that the group will showcase are Tata Motors and Tata financial services. Tata Motors is a very familiar name as its products were showcased a lot during the recent IPL seasons. Not only did they showcase their cars, Tata Nexon, Tata Harrier, and Tata Punch, but they also showcased awards with the “Super Striker” award being one of them.
As the Women’s IPL 2023 is starting next week, on the 4th of March, it’s only natural to know what the WPL 2023 tournament details are.

Tata WPL Tournament Details

Since this is the first-ever Women’s IPL, the format and rules are specified to ensure uniformity between all the teams. There will be a total of five teams playing each other with a total match count of 23. The five teams that will play in the tournament are:”
1) Gujarat Giants
2) Royal Challengers Bangalore (Women)
3) Delhi Capitals (Women)
4) Mumbai Indians (Women)
5) UP Warriorz

These five teams will follow the Round Robin format which ensures that every team plays against each other - bringing the league matches to a total count of 20.
As before, the top-scoring team in the Women’s IPL 2023 will reach the finals directly. This is followed by the eliminator match which will be played between the teams in the second and third positions in the table. The winner of the eliminator match will thus be the second finalist of the tournament.
For the number of players allowed, there is a separate list of rules applied. The following of them goes into detail about the same:

1) A maximum of 18 players is allowed for every team’s squad
2) A maximum of 5 overseas players are allowed in a team’s squad
3) These overseas players can have four players from Full Member nations and the fifth player can be from an Associate Member nation.
