OPPO has been launching one phone after the other in mid-range segments. And now, the said giant is all set to launch a new K series phone – OPPO K5. Apparently, it will be a mid-range smartphone that has no drawback. OPPO K5 is a stylish device with modern features that seek to compete with Xiaomi’s Redmi K20 pro. Read on to know more.
OPPO K5 sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 X 2340 pixels. The display features a water-drop notch instead of the notch-less screen found on the predecessor model, OPPO K3. The AMOLED display gives you vibrant colours with impressive contrast. The viewing angles are quite good too. To protect the display from scratches, OPPO has used the fifth generation of corning gorilla glass protection. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor for better security.
OPPO K5 is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor paired with 8GB of RAM, which is great for efficient multitasking and gaming. Plus, the Adreno 618 GPU graphics is powerful enough to run demanding games like PUBG on high settings. On the software front, the phone will run on ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9 pie.
Variant and Colour Availability
As per the leak, OPPO K5 will come in three variants – 6GB with 128 GB storage, 8GB with 128 GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. K5 also allows you to expand storage up to 256GB through a microSD card. The handset is expected to arrive in Green, Blue and White colors with 3D Glass back.
OPPO K5 built quality is great and the in-hand feel is commendable. The matt finish with a gradient back gives the device plenty of premium feel. The biggest highlight, however, is K5’s slim bezels around the display which enhance the screen to body ratio of the phone.
OPPO K5 is rumoured to be powered by a battery capacity of 3920mAh. The upcoming K5 will be the first phone from the company to ship with VOOC 4.0 Flash charging technology. This new technology promises to reduce charging time by 40 percent as compared to the VOOC 3.0 version. The phone takes only 30 minutes to charge 67 percent and 73 minutes to charge completely up to 100 percent.
As far as the cameras are concerned, OPPO K5 offers a quad-camera setup on the back. Although there are no other details about them, we can infer that the 64 megapixels Samsung GW1 is the primary sensor, with the 8 megapixels sensor being either ultrawide or telephoto. One of the 2 megapixels sensors could be a dedicated macro lens whereas the other can be a depth sensor. For selfie addicts, there’s also a 32 megapixels shooter on the front.
Price and Launch Date
OPPO K5 price in India is expected to start from Rs 17,990 for the base variant. The phone is slated to be launched on Oct 10, 2019.
