DSLRs Expected in 2020

DSLRs Expected in 2020

The life of a photographer and their art revolves around just one thing - the camera! Technological innovations are rapid and extensive everywhere, including photography. With film photography becoming obsolete, digital camera or DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) caught everyone’s fancy. As the wheels of innovation continue to move, photographers are likely to see more advanced technologies in photography going forward.

Owing to several elements operating at once, DSLRs are more expensive than regular cameras. People with a limited budget have little to worry, though. A state-of-the-art DSLR camera can be yours in a jiffy, thanks to the various loan options. You may even get an interest-free loan or incur a small consumer durable loan interest when shopping for cameras.

Let’s look at two prominent DSLRs that are expected to be launched in 2020:

1. Nikon D5700

Nikon is consolidating its DSLR camera range to make way for the new ‘mirrorless’ technology. The upcoming Nikon D5700 or D5800 will be a successor to the popular D5600. While there has been no official word on this, the new model is expected to release soon.

Regarding the specifications of the Nikon D5700, rumours are rife that it will bear a new sensor that is of 24MP resolution, wide dynamic range, improved picture quality in low-light and better colour depth. To work in tandem with the new sensor, the image processor has to improve. Thus, the D5700 is expected to feature the new Expeed V Image Processor. Together with the new sensor, the overall performance of the camera would be greatly enhanced.

Here are the rumoured specs of Nikon D5700:

  • 24MP DX-Format Sensor
  • Multi-CAM 3500 II DX 51-Point AF Sensor
  • Max ISO 102400
  • 4K 30p (Expected)
  • Expeed 5 Image Processor
  • No Optical Low-Pass Filter
  • 2-inch 1,229k - Dot LCD Monitor
  • 6 fps Shooting
  • SnapBridge Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with NFC
  • Full HD 1080p Video Recording at 60 fps
  • Time-Lapse Movie Recording

It is expected to cost between INR 50,000 and INR 60,000. No matter the cost, if you want it, you can own one with the help of a consumer durable loan.

2. Nikon D880

The Nikon D880 will succeed the bestselling Nikon D850 camera. It is a full-frame camera expected to be launched in the third or fourth quarter of 2020. The core specifications are likely to match the Nikon Z7. However, the resolution of the sensor is not known yet. Rumour has it that it could feature a 47MP or 55MP FF BSI CMOS Sensor.

Here are the expected specs at a glance:

  • Bluetooth, WIFI Clean HDMI Out, Touchscreen
  • Expeed 6 image processor
  • In-Body Stabilization: No (in early prototypes)
  • 47 MP / 55 FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor
  • 4K 24, 30, 60fps N-Log, N-Log2 and 10-Bit HDMI Out
  • 3.2-inch 2.36m-Dot Tilting Touchscreen LCD
