OnePlus has carved a niche for itself in just half a decade in the smartphone market. It stands apart from other giants with crystal-clear displays, super-fast processors and the value pricing. Launched in May 2019, OnePlus 7 Pro is the latest, most sought-after offering from the brand. We present to you our mobile review of this new phone by OnePlus.

Phone Review

In a first-of-its-kind 90Hz refresh display (i.e., the number of times the display refreshes itself), this phone offers a smooth transition and display experience, with every scroll or swipe feeling as smooth as butter. The brightness, colour accuracy (vivid or natural), and saturation marks it among the top phones in this category.

The operating system has matured over the years, with expanded features backed by superior performance. The Oxygen OS, with the latest 9.0 Pie Android gives the user a snappier experience, compared to the vanilla android in Pixel. The read speed on this device is tested to be almost double of its predecessor – 6T.

Its storage performance stands neck-to-neck with the best phones in the market, giving most of them a run for their money. It’s Snapdragon 855 processor performs as well as the latest A12 Bionic by Apple and the Kirin 980 by Huawei. Some of the features to look out for include – the customisable ‘Shelf’ dashboard, auto-drop detection, zen mode, fingerprint animation, screen recording, and gesture navigation.

The camera of this phone marks a shift from its earlier versions with a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a telephoto camera. A brighter aperture, laser supported autofocus and a larger sensor contribute to much better low light images. The image quality is top-notch, especially with slight tweaking of the HDR mode. The night mode captures images with more light and clarity and the portrait mode is also appreciable. Coming to its pop-up selfie camera, the photos are sharp with plenty of details to blow you away.

The battery of this phone is supported by an incredible new technology called ‘Warp Charging’ that manages to recover from 0% to 60% battery charge in 30 minutes, running parallel to the best smartphones in the industry. It’s audio and speaker technology are also impressive with a dual stereo system delivering a definite improvement in loudness and audio quality.

Overall, this phone is nothing short of amazing compared to some of the best phones in 2019. It does fall short on some features compared to its pricey competitors; there is no wireless charging, audio jack, waterproofing or expandable memory.
