Canon EOS R5 Rumoured to be Launched in April

Canon, a world leader in imaging technology, announced a full-frame mirrorless camera, EOS R5, in February 2020. Although no confirmation about the global launch was made by the Japanese multinational then, they have announced a major live event on April 20, which is believed to bring more news about one of the most exciting cameras – Canon EO5 R5.

Sensor and processor

There has been no disclosure about the sensor of the new mirrorless camera, though as per rumours it will be a 45MP full-frame CMOS sensor. Moreover, the shooter will offer a stunning 8K video capture at 30fps and 4K at 120fps, with an internal recording capability and no crop. Also, a dual pixel AF will be available in all of the 8K modes. The 8K feature will allow users to extract ultra-high quality still images from the video.

Canon EOS R5 Lens

What is even more exciting is the auto-focus capability of the EOS R5, which will allow premium body, face, and eye AF tracking, along with animal detection. This will allow photographers to pursue their subjects more steadily. A new revelation is the introduction of in-body image stabilization (IBIS) in E0S R5; this is canon’s first camera which will feature IBIS since the company in the past has always relied on lenses with in-built stability. This power pact feature will make shooting from E0S R5 a dream.

Design and connectivity

The mirrorless EOS R5 will remind you of its predecessor, EOS R, but only physically; the novel high-end shooter though will not have the multi-function bar (which got a mixed response earlier) but will host the traditional scroll wheel and a joystick. As per the teaser, it will have a sound grip to support longer camera lenses. EO5 R5 is expected to vary in size to sustain a rumoured large-capacity battery.

The new launch is alleged to have two card slots – CFExpress and SD UHS-II, allowing more storage. The snapper is expected to have a 5GHz Wi-Fi but no information about its Bluetooth version is available.

Pricing and availability

Though Canon has made no official confirmation about the pricing or the availability of the high-end mirrorless marvel, it is expected that it will carry a price tag equivalent or surpassing its competitors 45.7MP Nikon Z7 and 61MP Sony Alpha A7R IV which should be slightly over Rs 2,68,000.
