Tata Capital is committed to give people livelihood and Employability to make a difference in the community we are living in. We also strive to make a difference in the lives of others.

Following are some of the Key Initiatives taken for Employability & Livelihood:

 

Don Bosco

Tata Capital has funded vocational training for students from the AA community at the Don Bosco Technical Training Centre in Pune. Courses offer training in: Motor mechanics, Welding, Call Centre Operations, etc. Post successful completion of this course, Don Bosco provides certificates and assists in the placement of the students. 106 Students have been sponsored till date.

 

Pratham Hospitality Program

Tata Capital supports training of unprivileged youth in hospitality skills, in partnership with Pratham. Post training, the students are placed in the hospitality sector. 269 students have been sponsored till date.

 

Pragati Prathisthan

Pragati Pratishthan runs a residential school for speech and hearing impaired tribal children. Tata Capital has undertaken a project to revive an existing bakery unit run by the Pragati Pratishthan in association with Indian Hotels (IHCL). IHCL is providing technical expertise and know-how to get the unit running and manufacture quality products. The renovation of the bakery is complete. We will also assist them with market linkages to make the bakery sustainable. Our project is aimed at providing economic independence to the backward and underprivileged tribals in Jawhar, The beneficiaries include speech and hearing impaired youth who are amongst the most neglected in the community.

 

Following are some of the Key Initiatives taken for Health:

 

St. Jude India Child Care Centres

St.Jude provides a safe haven for children suffering from cancer. Many patients come to Mumbai for treatment from other cities. Though their treatment is taken care of through donations, they have to stay on the streets as accommodation is unavailable. St.Jude provides a clean, hygienic environment for these charity patients, free of cost, thus aiding their recovery and ensuring follow up visits. Tata Capital is associated with them at their new centre at Kharghar, where we have sponsored the kitchens and provide starter packs and nutritional supplements to all patients.

  1. Maintaining the standard of education imparted at AURED by supporting staff salaries
  2. Facilitating early detection of hearing impairment by supporting a mobile van
  3. Providing the children with much needed garden playing equipment
  4. Supporting the construction of AURED Annexe, an extended facility. In addition we donated furniture for the new building from one of our branch offices that was closing down.

 

Cancer Patients Aid Association

Adoption of 20 cancer patients by assisting them in confirmation of diagnosis, treatment, post surgical rehab , economic support to the family etc,.

 

Pragati Prathisthan

Pragati Pratishthan runs a residential school for speech and hearing impaired tribal children. Tata Capital has funded Infrastructure for the school - construction of toilet blocks and extension of the residential building for students. We also support enhancing nutrition levels through a better diet plan for the children. Five teachers from Pragati underwent a capacity building program at AURED and will implement the learning at their centre.

 

Following are some of the Key Initiatives taken for Education:

 

Magic Bus (Sports for Development)

This Tata Capital project started in December 2014. The Magic Bus Sports for Development Programme is implemented in underprivileged schools in the community of Vikramgad, Palghar District, Maharashtra. The objective of the programme is to work on the holistic development of children to develop positive attitudes and behaviour in three life values (education, health and hygiene, and gender equality); understanding the importance of play and ensuring the development of socio-emotional skills. This is to help children evolve into confident and competent youth, thus empowering them to get a livelihood of their choice, and succeed in it.

 

Pratham ('Read India' Initiative)

This learning intervention program by Pratham Education Foundation began in May 2014 in partnership with Tata Capital. Conducted in Vikramgad, Maharashtra, the activity includes the Read India Learning Camp intervention for students and the Spoken English intervention for the students of Vatsalya Ashramshala. The Read India intervention is a series of learning camps for students in Government schools. The spoken English Intervention entails teaching the students of Vatsalya Ashramshala the basics of English, to build their speaking fluency and confidence.

 

Child Rights & You (CRY)

Our Association with CRY focuses on children in 8 abandoned tea estates of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. The areas of intervention include: Education, Health and Integrated Child Development.

In association with our on ground partner Dooars Jagaron, this project aims to fulfill the following objectives:

  • To provide educational opportunities to children within the tea gardens with special focus on primary education and gradually education up to high school level.
  • Ensure the children are retained in schools
  • Identify the areas of violation of Right to Education
  • Decrease the number of child labour cases
  • Ensure the children in child labour return to school
  • Reduction of malnutrition cases, timely immunization of children and mothers, institutional deliveries and birth registration of children
  • Activation of heath centers, Integrated Child Development

 

Sattva (For Financial Literacy for Farmers)

This project delivers financial education content to the communities that can benefit significantly from such knowledge, in rural India. The gram Panchayats chosen for the project is Akre, Airey and Kasatwadi in the Jawahar taluka. The program has been rolled out in January 2016 post a baseline study and field visit.

 

Elphinstone School

This school imparts technical education for students up to standard XII

  • Tata Capital reimburses school fees and provides text books and notebooks to Affirmative Action students from IX to XII standard
  • We regularly organize an annual a field trips to the Nehru Science Centre/ Nehru planetarium for students.

 

Mumbai Mobile Creches (MMC)

Tata Capital supports some of the crucial aspects of the programme at MMC; education, nutrition, health & hygiene and teacher¿s salaries. Having appropriate resources for these is vital to the successful implementation of programmes on Construction sites, and our commitment to each of these programmes has helped us to make important strides in providing the best possible care to children of migrant workers.

 

Umang Foundation

Support for education for the children in the Municipal School in the vicinity of the Tata Capital Thane office. Tata Capital has funded setting up of a library, a computer lab and an audio visual training facility at the School.

 

FAEA Scholarship

This is a Tata Group level Affirmative Action scholarship scheme. We provide Scholarships to 5 bright SC/ST students through the ¿Foundation for Academic Excellence and Access¿ (FAEA) every year.

 

Pankh Scholarships

Our Pankh Scholarship program invites employees to nominate deserving/underprivileged students from AA communities for educational sponsorship and be their mentor throughout the course.

The criteria for nominations are as follows:

  • AA Community
  • Good academic record
  • Qualified for a professional course on merit
  • Economically underprivileged background

We have provided scholarships to more than 24 students for their professional education.

 

Following are some of the Key Initiatives taken for Environment:

 

Green Office

Tata Capital has been mapping its Carbon Footprint since 2009-10. The Carbon Footprint analysis for 2014-15 has been reported to the Carbon Development Project (CDP).

 

Surya Aranya

The Surya Aranya is a first of its kind solar installation in the country. It harnesses solar energy to self illuminate and power 28 surrounding garden lights. This cluster of trees creates public awareness about solar energy, while establishing the connection between renewable energy & conserving forests.

Inaugurated on: 28th January, 2014.

  • One of 12 finalists in the Design Honour Category at Tata Innovista, 2014, shortlisted among 208 entries for Design Honour
  • Presented at Edinburg India Institute, established by University of Edinburg by CERE our NGO Partner
  • Honorable Mention for 2013 Green Dot Awards in the ¿Public Products¿ category
  • Solar Energy Awards: Award for Excellence: Product
  • I Design Award in Lighting Design Category
