Tata Capital has set up 4 venture capital funds in India and also acts as an Investment Adviser to the AMCs of 2 private equity funds set up in Singapore. All these funds have a cumulative AUM ~ 1 bn USD. The funds invest in businesses that offer the potential for significant growth and financial return, and take joint responsibility with owner-managers to execute on the realisation of that potential.
Each Fund has a differentiated strategy and is run by separate, dedicated and experienced professional teams on behalf of its Limited Partner investors.
The Tata Capital Growth Fund has been operational since June 2010 and seeks to provide growth and expansion capital to companies with revenues between US$ 10 – 50 million; deal sizes range from US$ 15 – 25 million.
Tata Capital Healthcare Fund
The Tata Capital Healthcare Fund was established in April 2010 with a focus on Healthcare and Life Sciences, and particular emphasis on drug discovery and innovation based companies. The fund targets deals in the US$ 8 – 12 million range.
The Tata Opportunities Fund has been operational since March 2011 with the mandate of principally investing into and/or along-side private Tata companies. The fund is sector agnostic and seeks to provide growth and buyout capital in deals ranging from US$ 50 – 200 million.
Tata Capital Innovations Fund
The Tata Capital Innovations Fund was established in July 2010 and aims to invest US$ 4 – 10 million in early / growth stage companies (Revenues of <US$ 20 million) with technology led innovations across IT/ITeS and Clean Tech sectors.
Tata Capital Special Situations Fund
The Tata Capital Special Situations Fund has been operational since November 2009 and seeks to invest equity capital in stressed medium sized enterprises with deal sizes more than USD 10 million.
